Toby. George. Tried leaving you a message on Facebook and saw your dad Thursday night at Petes. Email me when you get a chance. As for merit pay you are wrong. I taught public school for the last 8 years. Merit pay is not an answer to the issue of public schooling. 90% of the teachers you meet are highly dedicated. Probably a much higher rate than most industries. What is wrong with public school is the assumption that learning can be measured the way it is now being done with the yearly tests. NCLB is the classic example. It is unbelievable the pressure that goes into passing that test and what gets left out as a result. Education is not a competitive model. It is a public good. It is about relationships with students and teachers. Think about your educational experience. You can't regulate it like a business industry or use the business model which is what merit pay is about. Hope all is well.

Yes it is so much waste the way 'we' in the US run around in our cars, it's rediculous if you ask me. People just think this is okay, just the way it is, I don't. I've always thought it was a terrible waste of time and energy.

BTW I have never eaten a Mc D's hamburger.

I luv using their restrooms on trips tho.

Yes we in the US are in for a rude awakening. Tho I've been studying this for years. Most have not.

I've always planned My Life so that I could live in communites that I can walk or ride my bikes around.

It scares me when I think of what faces us, because so many people are really in a bad position with no way out. Having to drive long distances to work. The price of cars, insurance and now gas. It's going to get more and more difficult and dis stressful. and people are already STRESSED to the limit.

We NEED to consume less, and become less wasteful.
I don't think it will happen until the whole system crashes and it's doing it now, if you ask me.

I LUV Kunstler. Been reading him for many years. I also read Home From Nowhere. He puts into words how I feel. I don't have a way with words.

And Mckibben rocks also.

This website is Great! IMHO.

I think gasoline is going to go way up, it will be double what it is now in 2 years.

BTW, I prefer Ken to Barbie. haha.

I think that humans are trying to keep up with all of the machinery, and technology. Everything is at our fingertips, and we want it NOW. We are brainwashed into thinking this way, it is Insidious. Television,
especially. and Virtual reality, computers, I am so glad I grew up in the 60's, before the rush really got to be too much.

I feel sorry for young people these days...they have more to Unlearn than to learn.

I have all my life tried to avoid the mainstream, and done a good job of it.
